Acting on Cancer Testing Together (ACT-Together)
About the Study
The goal of this research study is to develop a new education program, called the ACT-Together intervention, to educate and support women who test positive for the or mutation on how they can reduce their risk of cancer in an online group setting. This education program will be compared with the standard of care. Participants will complete a one-time education session and four surveys during a year time period. What the Study Involves
“Acting on Cancer Testing-Together (ACT-Together)” a evaluating the impact of groups classes on adherence or use of risk-reducing interventions for individuals with and . To be screened/enroll in the study, you can email [email protected].
Eligible participants will be randomly assigned (like the flip of a coin) to 1 of 2 groups. Some people who join will get the ACT-Together intervention, and others will receive standard care (that's called the control group). The intervention involves attending a group education session with other individuals who have or , led by community members with the same diagnosis and experts in the field. The goal is to help you understand ways to lower your risk of breast or ovarian cancer. These group sessions will be virtually (such as on Zoom), and you'll be compensated for your time attending and for completing surveys related to the study. The control arm will have access to online education videos.
All participants will complete questionnaires at four time points (last questionnaire will be sent at 12 months), no matter which arm you are assigned. These surveys should take less than 5 minutes to complete.
All participants will be compensated for participation in the study. You will receive a gift card at the time of completing the study activity (group visit or education video) and with each questionnaire you complete.

You might qualify if you:
- Are between 35-75 years old
- Have received a positive genetic test result for or mutation
- Have an email address and/or a U.S. cell phone number
Exclusions should be written in plain language that allows people to self-identify. Try to limit description to the top 5 criteria.
- Have a history of breast or ovarian cancer
- Have undergone removal of fallopian tubes/ovaries AND breasts (okay if only one has been done)
