About the Study
We are recruiting transgender, non-binary, and gender expansive people to join a research study. We want to learn how to better provide cancer prevention and gender affirming care. If you are at risk for cancer, we want to hear about your experiences talking to your doctor about gender-affirming hormones and cancer risk.
We're inviting transgender, non-binary, and gender expansive individuals who are on, have previously been on, or have considered taking gender-affirming hormones and who have a genetic predisposition to cancer to join our study. We want to hear about your experiences talking to your doctor about gender-affirming hormones and cancer risk. We want to learn how to provide better cancer prevention care and .
What the Study Involves
You will be asked to complete a short survey (5-10 minutes) to see if you are eligible for this study. If you are eligible, you will be asked to complete some questions about yourself and then, if you would like, you can enter your email address to have the opportunity to be contacted for a virtual interview.
We will contact you by email to set up an audio-recorded interview. Interviews will take approximately 45 to 60 minutes to complete. Topics that will be explored in the interview are: experiences with gender-affirming hormones, genetics, and cancer risk discussions; communication with your doctors; and how your past has impacted choices you have made about your health. Interviewees will receive a $25 Amazon gift card.

- You are 18 years of age or older
- You speak English
- You are transgender, non-binary, genderqueer, or gender expansive
- You are on, have previously been on, or have considered taking gender-affirming hormones
- You have a pathogenic or likely pathogenic variant in a gene related to cancer OR a family history of cancer OR a personal history of cancer
- Non-English speakers
- Younger than 18 years of age
- You do not live in the United States
