Session: Turning passion into advocacy and action

This 90-minute concurrent session will focus on ways that members of the BRCA and hereditary
cancer community can help advocate for more research and resources for our community. Barbara Pfeiffer
Cheryl Jernigan
will discuss:
- the challenges that face the community of people affected by hereditary cancer
- why and how FORCE has changed the lives and empowered high risk people and families
- some of the opportunities available for getting involved in hereditary cancer advocacy at the
local and national level
- the ways that FORCE has made a difference through volunteers
- FORCE programs
This session is appropriate for:
- people with a BRCA mutation or hereditary cancer in the family
- family, friends, relatives, and loved ones of people affected by hereditary cancer
- patient advocates, support group facilitators, and people who work with survivors and people
at high-risk for cancer
- health care providers who care for people and families with hereditary cancer
